Japanese Speech Contest in Brunei Darussalam (JSC) Logo Competition

Official Rules

  • Introduction

The first Bruneian Japanese Speech Contest (JSC) was held in 1986. Since then, JSC has been held annually and has been promoting Japanese language education, the awareness of Japanese culture and the cultural / academic exchange between Brunei and Japan. As part of the activities to commenmorate the 25th anniversary, the JSC running committee (JSCRC) are organizing this Logo Competition to design a logo for the Japanese Speech Contest in Brunei Darussalam.

  • Definitions

“Entry” means a logo design created by the Entrant for this Competition.
“Entrant” means the individual that offers the Entry under the terms of this Competition.
“Logo“ means a design concept.

  • Eligibility 
  1. All contestants must reside in Brunei Darussalam.
  2.  The Competition is open only to individuals. The Competition is not open to companies, educational institutions, organizations, etc. or to groups associated with such institutions.
  3.  Members of the JSCRC, the contest judges and their immediate family are not eligible to enter the Competition.
  • How to Enter
  1.  Initial entries must be submitted by email to bjsc2011@gmail.com  The entries must be submitted as a scalable vector graphic in EPS format, and also as a JPG / PDF. See the Submission Guidelines below for further information.
  2.  The email must include the name, I.C. Number, age, postal address, phone number and email address of the Entrant.
  3.  No more than 2 Entries may be submitted by any one Entrant.
  4. Entries must conform to the Submission Guidelines set out below. Entries which fail to do so will be rejected.
  5.  The deadline for Entries is 4:00 pm. on 10 July 2011, Brunei Time.
  6.  We will attempt to acknowledge all entries within one week of receipt; however, we cannot be responsible for entries or responses lost in e-mail.
  7.  There is no fee to enter the Competition.
  • Submission Guidelines

The purpose of the Competition is to design a logo for the Japanese Speech Contest. The logo will be used online, in print, or on merchandise. 

Flexibility is a key requirement, including the need to re-size easily and to look good in small and large size, in black and white as well as in color. The final version of the logo will need to be suitable for high quality printing, for instance to print on banners.

The logo must contain the words: 'Japanese Speech Contest ' or  'JSC '.
The logo must not contain any other text besides that required above.

Up to four (4) colours may be used in design; use of half-tones or gradients is not recommended. Any colours used must be CMYK only (no spot colours), and capable of being reproduced in grayscale/black and white. 

Entrants should take care to ensure that their Entries are not in any way similar to existing logos or other copyrighted images. In this extent, a logo may not be accepted, no matter how well crafted.

The limit on attachment sizes for email submissions is 5Mb. Due to the requirements for high quality printing and re-sizing, entries must be submitted in scalable vector graphic in EPS or JPEG format, or PDF formats may also be used.

  • Prizes

The winning design will be announced officially at the 25th Japanese Speech Contest in Brunei Darussalam in 24  September 2011. Every effort will be made to inform the winner in time for him or her to attend, but JSCRC is unable to pay for travel and accommodations.
The winning designer will receive an award and prize from JSCRC.

  • Judging and Selection of Winner
  1. The winning design will be selected by judges appointed for the purpose and by the JSCRC. Their decision will be final. No further correspondence shall be entertained.
  2.  JSCRC reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.
  3.  JSCRC reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant or Entry at its sole discretion. No correspondence shall be entertained.
  4.  All the entrants agree to transfer all right and transfer all the ownership of the logo to the JSCRC.
  • Intellectual Property
  1.  All submitted work must be original and not based on  any pre-exisiting design.
  2.  All Entries will become the sole property of JSCRC and may be displayed publicly on some web sites.
